Back in Action!
The Alaska Black Caucus is excited to announce its re-establishment! Long-time Alaskans may remember the Caucus as the leading community-based advocacy organization for the last quarter of the 20th century, welcoming all people of goodwill to join.
At the inaugural Bettye Davis African-American Summit held in February 2019, a group of former Caucus members from years past gathered and connected with newer Alaskans. Following this encounter, a core group of individuals met informally several times to explore two key questions:
First
Is there a current need for an Alaska Black Caucus?
Second
Is there archival information available that would enable a new Caucus to model itself after the successful one from 45 years ago?
We are pleased to share that we found affirmative answers to both questions.
Our reintroduction to the greater Anchorage area and Alaska as a whole took place at the 2nd Annual Bettye Davis African-American Summit on February 29, 2020.
We are excited for you to join us!
