Join us for a special community conversation Sunday, November 30th, 7-8 PM on Zoom as we celebrate Kwanzaa! Let’s come together to honor the rich traditions and principles of this meaningful holiday. We’ll discuss the significance of each of the seven principles, share stories, and enjoy some virtual activities to enhance our celebration. BENNY BENSON VS THE KKK
We are honored to have Dr. Michael “iqyax” Livingston as our community conversation guest speaker on Sunday, November 23rd, 7-8 PM on Zoom. Dr. Michael will present on the inspiring story of Benny Benson vs. the KKK: Alaska’s 7th Grade Super Hero. Discover how a courageous 14-year-old Alaska Native boy fought against racism in 1927 to win the Alaska flag contest. This event commemorates the upcoming 100-year anniversary of this pivotal moment in our history, which will be celebrated on July 9, 2027.

National American Indian Heritage Month provides an opportunity to honor the rich traditions, languages, and histories of Indigenous peoples while raising awareness of the challenges they face today.
