We are excited to invite you to an important community conversation hosted by the Alaska Black Caucus Economics Committee! Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 4th from 7 PM to 8 PM on Zoom, as we dive into the pressing issue of the economic wealth gap affecting our community. This conversation is a unique opportunity for our members to engage in dialogue about the challenges and solutions surrounding economic disparities that impact our families, neighborhoods, and future.

Joining us are two distinguished panelists whose expertise and experiences will enrich our understanding:

– Jay King: A Grammy Award-winning singer and successful business leader, Jay is the President and CEO of the California Black Chamber of Commerce. With his extensive background in advocacy for African American entrepreneurs and small business owners, Jay brings a wealth of knowledge about the barriers to economic equity and the strategies necessary for overcoming them.

– Mike Green: As a cultural economist and VP of New Economies at Bitwise Industries, Mike is a co-founder of several impactful organizations focused on inclusive competitiveness and economic empowerment. His research and insights into demographic trends and innovation highlight the importance of fostering environments where Black businesses can thrive.

The racial wealth gap is not just a statistic; it’s a reality that affects our families, our neighborhoods, and our futures. This conversation will explore the causes of the economic wealth gap, examine its effects on our community, and discuss collective actions we can take to promote equity and empowerment. Whether you’re looking to learn, share your experiences, or actively support your peers, this event is for you!
