Equity Center Grand Opening

The Economics Committee met on May 21st to discuss the challenges individuals are facing amidst ongoing economic uncertainty. It’s essential that we return to basics and focus on personal financial solvency.

We are excited about the opening of the Equity Center and the opportunity to offer classes to the community, which will enhance financial literacy and support.

Job Seekers Tools:
– Employment Search: Tips on how to research potential job opportunities.
– Interview Preparation: Anticipating questions, appropriate dress code, and professional demeanor (e.g., no slouching, no cell phone use).
– Understanding Credit Scores: How credit and debit can impact job opportunities and hiring decisions.

Personal Financial Survival and Success:
Many individuals are experiencing anxiety during this time of uncertainty and increased tariffs. Our discussion focused on:
– Strategies to survive and thrive financially.
– Tips on staying afloat during challenging times.
– Practical tools for daily living to help achieve and maintain financial peace.

Black Business Month/Blackout Day:
We also briefly discussed the need to begin planning for Black Business Month and Blackout Day, including several potential ideas. As part of our ongoing efforts, we encourage everyone to support and order from Black-owned businesses. Many directories exist nationally to help facilitate this.

The Economics Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month via Zoom. If you’re interested in joining and participating, please contact Ouida Morrison via text at 907-242-9776.
