The Education Committee is working with the ABC Justice Committee and the ASD to help organize the 2024 community-wide youth leadership event, which is primarily for youth (grades 6-12), young adults (ages 18-25) and the organizations that support and work with these groups. The event will take place on Friday, February 9th, 5-8 PM in the Auditorium of the Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School.
The event will feature a special screening of the award-winning feature documentary, ‘The Body Politic,’ with special commentary on the power of voting by the film’s director/producer, Gabrielle Francis Paz Goodenough.

The Body Politic celebrated its Alaskan Premiere at the Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF) in early December 2023.  The film follows Baltimore’s idealistic young mayor into office, where he puts his personal and political future on the line to save his city from chronic violence.

Following the film will be a panel discussion focused on the theme, The Power of your Vote!
