We’re gearing up for our favorite time of year…The Bettye Davis Health Summit is coming up quickly. Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 8 from 10am to 5pm. As always, it’ll be a day packed with amazing speakers and the Health Committeewill have a fantastic presentation. We’re deciding on topics now, so if you have a suggestion, we would love to hear from you. Stay tuned for all of the updates.
Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to lately.
Community Conversations:
- November 10, we hosted a panel discussion focused on Black Men’s Health. If you missed it, you want to watch the recording.
- December 1, we hosted a conversation focused on domestic violence. Here’s the link for the recording.
What health topic would YOU like to see us discuss? Our committee follows a “Whole Health” philosophy that health is about much more than your body. To be truly healthy, finding ways to balance our spirit, emotions, nutrition, community, physical and mental health are important. We are discussing topics now for 2025 and we would love to hear from you.
If the health of our community is important to you, join us. The Health Committee is very active and we are always happy to welcome new friends to our team. We meet every 3 weeks on Tuesdays at 7pm. Our next meeting is December 10. To find out more about how to join us email The Alaska Black Caucus at TheAlaskaBlackCaucus@gmail.com.
Cheers,
Ginny
