Here’s what the health committee has been up to:
The Health Committee is gearing up for the Bettye Davis Healthy Families Summit 2025. We’re expanding on the panel discussion we held last year and continuing to focus on getting health information out to our local communities. Barber shops have been a crucial safe space for men in our community to gather and share all kinds of personal information and create bonds of trust. What has changed in modern barbershops? Do women have similar experiences in beauty salons? Can these spaces become places for our community to get accurate, up-to-date health information and combat misinformation? We will explore all of these questions and more.
Backing up a little bit, the Health Committee met together in person in December to enjoy some “non-work” relaxation and incredible food at Namaste Shangri-La. Connection, community, and nutritious food are essential pieces of our whole-person health philosophy that we’re happy to model.
We have simplified the Health Committee meeting schedule. Please join us on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7pm on Zoom. Contact ABC or any of our members to get the Zoom details and join us.
