Join us for a discussion led by Theresa Lyons, ABC Voter Administrator, as she engages with a panel of individuals to ensure our community stays informed and actively participates in the political process. We will explore the complexities of ranked choice voting, review the items on the ballot, and hear from youth representatives about the importance of voting for young people, along with other key topics.
Alaskans advocated for elections based on selecting the most qualified candidate, irrespective of party affiliation, which aligns with our new system featuring open primaries. With over 60% of Alaskans opting to remain unaffiliated with any political party, our revamped voting process empowers every Alaskan to vote for their preferred candidate. These reforms aim to rectify our political system and restore authority and autonomy to the voters. Ranked choice voting ensures that voters retain control over their choices, rather than political party influences, and works towards alleviating the partisan divisions prevailing in our nation.
