Black women not only encounter some of the highest rates of domestic violence in the nation but also contend with public stigma, silence, and victim-blaming associated with domestic violence. These challenges are exacerbated by a complex history of oppression, over-policing, and discrimination. Consequently, Black survivors face additional obstacles in accessing safety, seeking assistance, and receiving support when reaching out for help. Join the Alaska Black Caucus as we shine a light on domestic violence in the Black community.
